Easter Sunday 2026

It was a wet and rainy morning.

I made my love a special Easter breakfast and got myself some coffee & raisin walnut toast.

When the rain stopped, I headed out on a little walk. I saw crocus and daffodil buds, and the lilac has leaves coming in. It was very windy! I also heard many birds: American goldfinch, chipping sparrow, winter wren, tufted titmouse, brown-headed cowbird, American robin, brown creeper, and common grackle. I used the Merlin app for identification help. This was the first day I heard the chipping sparrow this season! A definite sign that spring is here!!!

I was also happy to see how many young hemlocks we have in our wood. I hope they don't get the woolly adelgid.

I am reading the Wolf Hall trilogy by Hilary Mantel. I am still on the first book. There could be spoilers in this blog, but since the work is heavily historical I'm going with it. Queen Elizabeth I was just born. I didn't not know that she was Anne Boleyn's daughter until reading this. I don't think we are taught English history much in depth here in the U.S. When I asked my partner about it, she did not know this either. Anyways, it was a sad part of the story, because King Henry VIII and of course many others were pinning their hope on this child being a boy.

My afternoon was spent at an Easter gathering with family and friends. I have not been feeling happy lately but I did enjoy being together with talkative, fun people.

Then I had a rather big dinner considering my lunch! Evening chores followed. Now it's time for bed.
